Previously unseen self-portraits from Francis Bacon take in £30 million at auction

Since breaking the record for most expensive piece of art ever auctioned, in 2013, with Three Studies of Lucian Freud, interest in the artwork of Francis Bacon has been at an all time high. 2014 saw the sale of, Portrait of George Dyer Talking, changing hands at $70 million. It’s no surprise then, that this pair of self-portraits managed to meet their financial expectations. Even those of us who think that these amounts are insane and obscene, can, however, revel in the release of these heretofore hidden works, even if only via photographs.
