Songs of The Day: Ezra Furman – Restless Year, Bonnie Hayes and The Wild Combo – Girls Like Me

Summer Beach Party Pop, that would have fit well on the Valley Girl soundtrack between Felony’s, The Fanatic, and the Bonnie Hayes and The Wild Combo track posted below. A little Elvis and The Attractions, maybe a little Question Mark and The Mysterians,  with a nice Bob Bert trash can drum sound at a minute in. Taken from his most recent album, Perpetual Motion People. Definitely someone to keep your eyes on.

  1. I had the delightful privilege of meeting and hanging with Bonnie, and interviewing her on the radio, early in her career when The Punts (later the Wild Combo) was still on their own indie label, Bondage, and “Shelley’s Boyfriend” had become an anthem. What a sweetheart and what a talent! But I had also played the flip side, “Rochambeau,” and knew there was something a lot deeper going on.
