WFMU has ended it’s decade long running blog, Beware of The Blog.

New Beware of The Blog content had declined consistently over the past few years, but this is still a bummer. BOTB was a great resource for, among other things, fiends searching for obscure music past and present. It definitely hipped me to a genre spanning array of artists, for which I will be forever grateful. In fact, I even traded some of those rarities with two of their DJs on a certain p2p. The good news is that the archives will remain online, and the station is unaffected. RIP, BOTB, you will be missed.

Be sure to check out their free, downloadable, collections of Fuzz guitar country songs, http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2007/11/country-fuzz-sp.html, and MSR oddball/outsider American Song Poems, http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2005/07/american_song_p.html, both of which, there are many.

And while you’re at it, check out one of my favorite bits from the hilarious Scharpling and Wurster, The Best Show. It is the most amazing, and incredibly factually detailed, parody of the modern know-it-all music hipster, who has been everywhere and heard everything, that you will ever hear. Name dropping galore. LCD Soundsystem’s, Losing My Edge, great though it is, has got nada on this.
