After Jeff Lynne dusted off the old Electric Light Orchestra moniker for the first show billed as such in thirty years, 2014’s wildly successful Hyde Park show, rumors abounded of a tour and potential new recordings. Well, it appears that at least half of that rumor is manifesting as Lynne just inked a contract for ELO with Columbia Records. The official press release offers no concrete information as to a timeline, band lineup, length of contract, etc., but with the band’s catalog achieving a resurgence in popularity via it’s use in TV, film and commercials, and the support of a major record label, it would seem that he time is right for Jeff Lynne renaissance. I for one, wholly endorse that, and have high hopes of attending a show, should there be a tour. I get a… strange magic!
