R.I.P. to comic artist, Herb Trimpe

The first man to draw the character Wolverine, Trimpe will forever be remembered for his character defining work on The Incredible Hulk, including the creation of the Hulkbusters. Hopefully he took great satisfaction in knowing that one of his premier contributions would play a pivotal role in the upcoming Avengers movie, as by the mid-nineties, Trimpe’s work was considered an anachronistic relic of a bygone era in comics. This article, written for The New York Times, is a sad statement on growing old in a trend driven career. Humbling but ultimately gratifying, and well worth a read.

Trimpe was also responsible for one the best marketing campaigns of all time: Crest vs The Cavity Creeps!
